Second round of public input successfully completed at ten Community Conversations

By April 30, 2018 News

Between April 24th and 26th, over 230 community members came back together to continue the conversation that began in January about the future of OP.  People who live, play, shop, learn, and worship in Overland Park participated in a series of ten “community conversations” located throughout the City. A big thanks goes out to everyone who participated!

At each identical event, participants rated and commented on the draft vision and goals, which were based upon the ideas submitted by the public at the Imagine Tomorrow Workshop. The draft goals were focused on four major initiative areas: “Connecting our People”, “Caring for our People”, “Strengthening our Quality of Place”, and Enhancing our Economy”.

Then, working in small groups, they reviewed and discussed potential actions in each of the initiative areas, also drawn from the Imagine Tomorrow Workshop input. Each action is a concrete program, policy or project which the City or community partner might carry out to achieve the stated goals. Finally, each group brainstormed additional actions, and also thought about “metrics for success” that could be used to help us know when we have achieved the vision and goals.

Community members who were unable to attend the sessions, or who have more ideas to share, may still participate online by clicking on the button below. Online input will be collected through May 15, 2018.
